PAYTON HARGREAVES

FACILITY & ON ICE COACH

Payton has been playing hockey for 17 years, beginning her journey on the ice at the age of 5. She started playing rep hockey with the Whitby Wolves at 8 years old. Before joining the University of New Brunswick Women’s Hockey Team, Payton played for the Durham West Jr. Lightning and attended Team Ontario Development Camp. At UNB, she is a 3-time AUS Champion and has made 3 National appearances. Payton has been the Captain of the UNB Reds since the 2023-2024 season.

Payton has been coaching with Total Speed Hockey since 2021, working both on the ice and in the facility. Her other coaching experience includes Headstart Hockey (ON), Jr. Reds Mentorship Program, Bauer First Shift Program along many others. Payton is also a Hockey Gives Blood Student-Athlete Ambassador, demonstrating her dedication to supporting others both on and off the ice.


Payton holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Sociology and is currently pursuing her Master of Arts in Sports and Recreation Studies. Her research focuses on the development of girls and women in hockey.

When Payton isn’t on the ice, she loves travelling, spending time outdoors, and exploring new restaurants. Payton’s ability to connect with young athletes, combined with her leadership and passion for the game, makes her an invaluable part of the Total Speed Hockey coaching team.
