FACILITY INSTRUCTOR
Job Overview:
Total Speed Hockey is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Hockey Facility Instructor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong hockey background and be passionate about teaching the game to players of all skill levels, from beginners to elite athletes. As an instructor, you will be responsible for coaching small groups and team sessions, running skating treadmill sessions, shooting/puck handling drills on synthetic ice, and leading dryland training stations.
Key Responsibilities:

Conduct Training Sessions: Lead and instruct players in small group settings, team sessions, and one-on-one sessions.

Teach Hockey Fundamentals: Coach players on key skills, including skating technique, shooting mechanics, puck handling, and overall game IQ. Tailor instruction to suit the skill level of each player, from beginner to advanced.

Operate Skating Treadmill: Guide players on the skating treadmill, focusing on improving stride, speed, and endurance while providing real-time feedback. (will be trained on this)

Run Synthetic Ice Sessions: Conduct shooting and puck control sessions on the synthetic ice surface, focusing on technique, accuracy, and decision-making.

Lead Dryland Stations: Manage dryland training sessions that focus on strength, agility, coordination, and conditioning relevant to hockey performance.

Provide Feedback and Motivation: Offer constructive feedback to players, motivate them to achieve their best, and foster a positive and encouraging learning environment.

Ensure Safety and Equipment Maintenance: Maintain a safe training environment, ensure proper use of equipment, and perform basic maintenance checks as required.

Build Relationships: Establish strong relationships with players and parents to ensure a positive and professional experience at the facility.
Qualifications:

Hockey Background: Extensive experience in playing and/or coaching hockey is required.

Coaching Skills: Ability to effectively teach the fundamentals of hockey, including shooting, skating, and puck control, to players of varying skill levels.

Communication: Excellent communication skills with the ability to connect with young athletes and provide clear, actionable feedback.

Passion for Development: A strong passion for player development and helping athletes reach their full potential.

Energetic and Positive Attitude: Must be energetic, patient, and maintain a positive attitude while working with players.

Time Management: Ability to manage multiple training groups and sessions efficiently.

Availability: Must be available to work evenings and Saturday mornings.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience operating specialized hockey training equipment, such as skating treadmills and synthetic ice.

Certifications in hockey coaching or strength and conditioning (e.g., Hockey Canada, or other relevant certifications) are a plus.
Working Conditions:

Part-time hours with a schedule that includes weekday evenings and Saturday mornings.

Active role requiring standing, skating, and physical demonstration of drills and techniques.
